The USA is quite impressed with the transparency of the election and assured the new government of its continued support. They applauded the political parties and government, the IEC and the people of SA on a job well done and is looking forward to effective engagement with the government and people of SA.

Tycoon invests in SA
Sol Kerzner is back in SA, this time with a stylish brand-new R843-million hotel named the One&Only which opened  in Cape Town last month. The posh hotel with its R33 000-a-night suite and magnificent Table Mountain and ocean views takes hotels in SA to a whole new level. Kerzner claims that the One&Only is his best work up to now – with friends such as Mandela, Sharon Stone and Robert de Niro we don’t expect anything less!

Welcome break for homeowners
The repo rate has been cut by 100 basis points, which means relief for homeowners. This, on top of the earlier 2.5% cut is definitely something worth celebrating! The repo rate now rests at 8.5% while prime has been reduced to 12%. Inflation is apparently expected to descend even more, in spite of the widening domestic output gap, which is great news.
