Professionalism Part 4: Pay your clients on time
I hate chasing payments but I do have to do it from time to time Arrrgh! Agreed, some people just honestly forget to pay and then they need a little reminder (which works wonders) but others just ignore the requests outright. I find it difficult to understand because I always make a point of paying people on time. The way I see it is that if someone has “delivered the goods” and you’re happy with the product or service, then settle the invoice within the payment terms stipulated. Conversely, if there are any snags, don’t pay until you’re happy with the final product. But more often than not, it’s the businesses that have lived up to their part of the deal that fail to get paid. Unprofessional and rude. Why should people have to hound someone for a payment? Be fair when you do business and settle invoices when they’re due!
Grief, don’t even get me started on this! Nightmares!
