Photo of The Week – Frog
Consisting of more than 5 000 species described, frogs are among the most diverse groups of vertebrates. Sadly though, populations of many frog species are declining significantly. So please don’t freak out next time you find one in your shower – don’t kill him, rather take him outside and leave him in your garden. And if you see one stuck in your pool, help him out! Also, don’t order frogs legs at a French restaurant…
Frogs feature prominently in folklore, fairy tales and popular culture, where they tend to be portrayed as benign, ugly and clumsy – but with hidden talents. Examples include Michigan J. Frog, The Frog Prince and Kermit the Frog.

Never in my life have I thought that a frog can actually look adorable! What a cute little purple froggie – I want to take it home, love it, care for it and give it some good opportunities
Go to the Durban Botanical Gardens and collect a few froggies, then take them home and look after them… I can’t, because my sausage dog has a thing for them. She loves to go outside at night, when it’s raining, to lick poisonous frogs. Then she comes back inside and lies on our bed making funny noises with her mouth all night. She never learns!
Mamzet, you take those froggies home but remember…no licking!
